It's very astonishing to know the fast growing plan of Construction Development in Indonesia within the next 5 years. To mention some are
- Electricity Generation Project for 35.000 MW which equates to 70 project per year with capacity of 100 MW and will cost around IDR 1,5 Trillion.
- Road Construction consisting of 2,650 KM New roads, 1,000 KM Toll Roads, 46,770 KM Road Maintenance
- in the Air Sector, 15 New Airport will be built or 3 Airport per year.
- in the Port Sector, 24 New Ports will be built
- Rail Track Construction in Java, Sumatera, Kalimantan Sulawesi will be built for 3258 KM
Despite their lack of workforce in construction, Indonesia's New Government's optimistic that the target will be achieved. According to The Indonesia Construction Mag, The number of construction workers in Indonesia is currently around 6 Million and only a few has competence certification. Therefore, to tell you the truth, the availability of adequate construction workforce both Quantity and Quality will be another next challenge.
Even though, Indonesia government are tightening up on expat permits as they think that there will be many Indonesians who are well qualified for the jobs. Expats should be no worries over this restriction. Indonesia government will abide totally the ISCO ( International Standard Classification of Occupation, One of the main classification under the authority of International Labour Organization.
Inline with the target above, the competition of workforce in the construction service will be increasingly stringent. Local workforce should be able to compete with the construction workers coming to Indonesia for taking at least 61 position offered by the Government for expats. yes.. it's official information, that Indonesia Government Launched Regulation relating to Positions Open to Expats for Construction Category. it's stipulated on ministry decree no 247/MEN/X/2011. Around Sixty One Positions are allowable to be filled by expats.

Those positions also can be sit by Expats for Maximum 5 years and could not be extended unless expats who sit in commissioner and Director positions who put also shares in the company
In spite of the government's New Plan about construction project, we can see at least the plans call for an opportunity to take part in this huge construction
