POSITIONS ALLOWABLE FOR EXPATS IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

A regulation  disclosed on my earlier post,  19 positions Closed off to  Expats in Indonesia, tightening recruitment of foreign workers, has further reduced the number of expat workers in Indonesia. According to the data from the manpower and Transmigration Ministry, since the Government closed off 19 types of Jobs to expats, the number has declined from 68,957 in 2013 to 64,404 foreign workers in 2014.


well, If those position above are closed, what positions are allowable, then?
Indonesia Government launched regulation related to Positions that are open to Expats for each industry It's made to protect local workforce in facing Liberalization of labor in the era of Asian Economic Society this year.

I have to admit that employment in Indonesia is not truly open to expats. the regulation is certainly to protect local workforce  from unemployment as currently Indonesia's  unemployment rate   based on Statistics Indonesia is 5,94 percent or around 7,150,000 persons in which according to the Central Statistics Agency, unemployment among the better educated in Indonesia is among the highest in Asia. Either  Full or  Part Time unemployment among this section of the workforce amounts figure out  more than 10 percent

Below are the positions which can be occupied by Foreign workers (Expats), for Automotive and Industry / Group, This is based on the Ministerial Decree of Manpower and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia Number 464 /2012

ISCO is International Standard Classification of Occupations


Those above position that can be filled by Foreign workers or Expats must be able to transfer their excellent skills, knowledge and technology to locals as an effort to develop the quality of Indonesian workforce

Those positions also can be sit by Expats for maximum 5 years and could be extended unless expats who sit in commissioner and Director positions have also shares in the company ( share Holder)
